How to stop the app select screen from crashing
There's been a reported issue with the 'App Select' screen sporadically crashing or going blank.
While we work on a bug patch in the code, here's a solution to stop this from happening in the meantime.
Reset the Apple Screen Time settings
Resetting Apple Screen Time in your iPhone settings should solve this bug. This will clear out old apps and websites.
- Delete the Locked app from your iPhone.
- Open Settings > Screen Time > Turn off these settings:
- App & Website Activity (bottom of the Screen Time page)
- Share Across Devices (bottom of the Screen Time page)
- Reinstall the Locked App from the App Store.
- Open the Locked app, and grant Screen Time permissions in the onboarding process.
After reinstalling the Locked app, the 'App Select' screen should no longer crash or freeze.
If everything is now working, you may optionally turn 'App & Website Activity' and 'Share Across Devices' back on in the Screen Time settings page.
